Woman Killed When Car Is Broadsided

A woman was killed and a man seriously injured Friday when their car was broadsided on a Newport Beach street, police said.
The female passenger and the male driver, whose names were withheld pending notification of relatives, were eastbound on Cliff Drive and attempting to turn left onto North Dover Drive when their car was hit by a vehicle heading south on Dover.
A preliminary investigation determined that the victim’s car failed to yield at the intersection, Newport Beach police said.
