Cathryn Robberts Dye; Founder of 2 Private Schools

Cathryn Robberts Dye 94, founder of two private elementary schools in the Los Angeles area. She began the first of her schools, the Brentwood Town and Country School in 1929. Over the 60 years her schools existed (her second was The John Thomas Dye School in Bel-Air founded in 1949), thousands of children aged 3 to 14 attended her facilities, which offered a college preparatory curriculum. Her husband, John Thomas Dye II, also an educator, died in 1969. The Bel-Air school was named for their late son. Survivors include a niece and nephew. Saturday at her Brentwood home.
