Drifter Charged in Scuffle at Mission

A Skid Row drifter who threatened actor Kevin Dobson with a knife at downtown Los Angeles’ Midnight Mission and tried to steal a package of discarded top-label clothes the actor was bringing to the mission was charged with robbery Friday.
Sergio Orozco, 28, pleaded not guilty to the charge in Municipal Court and a preliminary hearing was set for Oct. 5.
Mission employees said Orozco pulled a five-inch knife and demanded the clothes. They started to grapple with him just as two police detectives rode by, saw the struggle and arrested Orozco.
Dobson has starred on the CBS prime-time soap “Knots Landing.” He said the clothes, including brand-name jeans and socks, were worth about $500. After being held as evidence they were turned over to the mission.
