Corona del Mar, Newport Harbor Win in Volleyball

Corona del Mar, Newport Harbor, Santa Barbara and Mira Costa high schools advanced to the semifinal round of the Edison girls’ volleyball tournament Friday at Corona del Mar High School.
Friday’s first-round matches were played at Corona del Mar because of transformer repairs near Edison. The tournament returns to Edison today.
Mira Costa defeated Edison, 15-4, 15-9, 15-3, Corona del Mar defeated Long Beach Wilson, 15-4, 15-2, 15-5, Newport Harbor defeated Woodbridge, 15-11, 9-15, 15-12, 15-12, and Santa Barbara defeated Capistrano Valley, 15-5, 15-12, 15-13, in the first round.
In the semifinals, which will begin at 11 a.m. today, Mira Costa plays Newport Harbor and Santa Barbara plays Corona del Mar.
