Scholarship Fund Set in Memory of Student
- Share via
The Paramount Unified School District, which usually creates memorial scholarships only in honor of distinguished teachers, has broken precedent and is honoring a student.
On Friday, school officials will accept a $500 check to launch the Phillip Trujillo Memorial Scholarship Fund. Trujillo, 17, who graduated last June with honors, was killed in August by a hit-and-run driver on the Artesia Freeway in Buena Park.
Scholarships will go to college-bound seniors who are active, as Trujillo was, in peer counseling on campus.
