NAMES IN THE NEWS : Television’s Aunt Bee in Hospital

SILER CITY, N.C. — Frances Bavier, who played the devoted and doting Aunt Bee on television’s “Andy Griffith Show,” remained hospitalized in a coronary care unit, a spokeswoman said today. Bavier’s condition, at her request, was not released, said officials at Chatham Hospital, where she was admitted Wednesday. Bavier, 86, has lived in Siler City for many years and has refused requests for interviews for some time. “She’s a very private person,” Roger Harrell, hospital administrator, said.
