Italy’s Alberto Tomba won the second slalom of the World Cup skiing season by 1.73 seconds at Waterville Valley, N.H.
Tomba easily won both heats in times of 57.96 and 58.28 for a combined clocking of 1 minute 56.24 seconds.
Pirmin Zurbriggen of Switzerland finished second in both runs with a 1:57.97 total. Ole Christian Furuseth of Norway, who won last week’s giant slalom at Park City, Utah, was fourth in 1:58.59.
Felix McGrath of Hanover, N.H., placed eighth as the only U.S. finisher.
