THE SIDELINES : Argentine Boater Loses Arm

BUENOS AIRES — The right arm of Argentine motorboat racing champion Daniel Scioli was severed today in an accident during the second phase of an international race along the Parana River, the Argentine coast guard said.
Scioli, 34, a two-time European champion, won the first phase of the Argentine Delta 1,000-kilometer race Sunday, with Argentine President Carlos Saul Menem as his co-pilot.
