ANIMAL KINGDOM : Hunting Dog Shoots His Master

LYNGDAL, Norway — A dog shot his master while they were hunting rabbits in southern Norway last weekend, the sheriff’s office said today.
The 50-year-old hunter suffered minor injuries when he was hit by pellets from a shotgun accidentally fired by his dog Terna, a Finnish hound, said Steinar Mydland, a Lyngdal district deputy sheriff.
The hunter and his companions had laid down their guns when they stopped to rest during a hunting trip Saturday near the town of Lyngdal, Mydland said.
“The dog was playing near the guns and accidentally hit the trigger,” he said. “Luckily, the shot ricocheted. A direct hit would have been tragic.”
