GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : El Toro Defeats Alemany, Reaches Brea Semifinals

Karie Yoshioka scored 20 points and had seven assists to lead El Toro High School to a 59-49 victory over Alemany Wednesday in the championship quarterfinal round of the Brea-Olinda High School girls’ basketball tournament.
Sara Bone had 15 points and 13 rebounds and Tracy Heiser had 11 points for El Toro, which plays Palmdale at 8 p.m. Friday in one championship semifinal.
In other Brea-Olinda tournament games:
Palmdale 44, Santa Margarita 37--Sophomore Kristen Mulligan scored 24 for Santa Margarita (4-1).
Costa Mesa 55, West Covina 44--Rachel Ward of Costa Mesa had 18 points in a consolation quarterfinal game. Olivia DiCamille had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Costa Mesa (3-3).
In the El Dorado tournament:
El Dorado 44, Downey 42--Briana Yoshina had 16 points and Teresa Korte had 14 to lead El Dorado. El Dorado is 3-1; Downey is 2-4.
Saugus Canyon 43, Sunny Hills 40--Kristy Bretthauer had 21 points to lead Canyon. Sunny Hills was led by Amy Johnson’s nine points.
In the Savanna tournament:
Edison 62, Norco 54--Debbie Fischer had 32 points, making seven three-point shots to improve her three-point goal total to 38 in six games, for Edison (4-2) in a semifinal. Talia Crooks had 13 points and five rebounds and Erika Miller had 11 points and five steals for Edison.
In a nonleague game:
Troy 53, Sante Fe 42--Brandee Richardson had 21 points and Dede Logemann 17 points and 25 rebounds for visiting Troy (2-2).
