COLLEGE ROUNDUP : SCC Rallies in Second Half for Victory

Southern California College lost an 11-point lead in the second half and trailed by seven before rallying to defeat Menlo College, 90-84, in the Occidental College men’s basketball tournament Friday at Eagle Rock.

John Mounce had 22 points and Jeff Bickmore and Rick Witmer each had 19 to lead SCC (8-5). Menlo is 10-2.

In nonconference men’s basketball:

Simon Fraser (Can.) 100, Christ College Irvine 85-- Andrew Steinfeldt scored 32 points for Simon Fraser (6-13). Albert Gay had 18 to lead Christ College Irvine (7-10).

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Southern California College 73, Whittier College 34--Kristen Bevis had 16 points, Nora Menken had 14 and Stacy Mounce had 10 for visiting SCC (7-4). Whittier is 0-8.

In California Coastal Conference women’s basketball:

Pacific Christian College 72, American Indian Bible College 28--Gina Atkins had 17 points and Beth Buchanan had 13 for Pacific Christian (4-7, 2-0) at Cal State Fullerton. American Indian Bible College is 0-10 and 0-2.
