GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Jalewalia Gets 34; La Quinta Streak Hits 44 in League

Amy Jalewalia scored 34 points and had 10 rebounds Wednesday as La Quinta High School extended its Garden Grove League winning streak to 44 games with an 80-29 victory over host Bolsa Grande.
Heather Brannan had 19 points for La Quinta (13-2, 4-0). Jennifer Jeffries had 10 points and Lucy Wong 10 assists for La Quinta.
Kennedy 72, Santiago 39--Guards Valerie Ruiz and Michelle Harris each scored 24 points to lead host Kennedy (6-8, 2-2). In the first quarter, Ruiz scored 12 of her points and Harris seven as Kennedy built a 21-3 lead.
Becky Elcock led Santiago with 16 points and Stephanie Cave had 14.
Rancho Alamitos 62, Los Amigos 43--Jenny Newsome scored 21 points to lead second-place Rancho Alamitos (8-2, 3-1) to victory.
