Melvin A. Ellsworth, 79; Ex-President of the Fluor Corp.

Services are scheduled Friday for Melvin A. Ellsworth, former president of Irvine-based Fluor Corp. who died last Friday at his Laguna Beach home of heart failure at the age of 79.
Ellsworth was the president of Fluor from 1968 to 1976 and sat on the corporation’s board of directors from 1956 to 1985. After that he served as director emeritus.
During Ellsworth’s 45-year career at Fluor, he held various positions, including executive vice president, vice president and general manager of engineering and construction and vice president of sales. He joined the company in 1940 as a district sales engineer.
Ellsworth was born in Paducah, Tex., and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering.
Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to the Melvin and Aladine Ellsworth Scholarship Fund, Oklahoma State University Foundation, Stillwater, Okla. 74078.
He is survived by his wife, Aladine, a daughter and son.
