Dan Jansen won the next-to-last World Cup race of the season in the 500-meter sprint in 39.08 seconds, beating Norwegian Bjorn Forslund by a half-second at Helsinki, Finland.
Nick Thometz, of the United States placed third in 39.64, .02 behind Forslund. Dave Besteman was ninth in 39.86.
