Arafat, Mandela

A most depressing picture appeared in The Times (Part A, Feb. 28). It was Yasser Arafat embracing Nelson Mandela upon the latter’s arrival in Zambia. Here was a man who has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of men, women and children in terrorist raids and bombings hugging a South African leader whose people have suffered similar tragedies. How cynical can Arafat be!
