Patty Fendick of Sacramento, injured during a match Sunday against 13-year-old Jennifer Capriati at the International Players Championships in Key Biscayne, Fla., has torn cartilage in her right knee that will require arthroscopic surgery. Capriati, meanwhile, has decided not to accept a wild-card invitation to play in the $225,000 Virginia Slims of Houston.
