Alhambra : Health Center to Close

The Alhambra Health Center, a free county facility that treats communicable diseases and provides immunization shots, will close until a new earthquake-safe building can be found to house it, a county official said.
The center, at 612 W. Shorb St., is in an unreinforced brick building that structural engineers said would be unsafe during a moderate to severe earthquake, said William Weitekamp, administrator of Los Angeles County’s San Gabriel Valley Health Centers Network.
Until a new facility can be found, patients and clinic workers will be transferred to other network clinics located in communities such as Monrovia, Azusa, La Puente and El Monte, Weitekamp said.
