Elaine Jackson Shevchenko, 50, the wife and writing collaborator of a prominent Soviet defector, has died.
She died in Washington on March 20 of cancer.
She married Arkady Shevchenko in 1978, shortly after he quit his job as undersecretary general of the United Nations.
Mrs. Shevchenko helped her husband write the book, “Breaking With Moscow.”
