A North Hollywood man was held Wednesday after police found a cache of a dozen weapons--including two grenades, two sawed-off shotguns and a pistol with a silencer--in his apartment, police said.
I.L. Young Yoon, 47, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a silencer and possession of a sawed-off shotgun, police said.
More than 100 residents of the three-story building where Yoonlived were evacuated for about three hours while bomb squad members searched Yoon’s apartment.
Police found the firearms after a resident in the complex at 11548 Magnolia Blvd. reported that shots were fired.
When police arrived at Yoon’s apartment, the door was open and they saw two World War II grenades on a table, which led them to evacuate the building.
Bomb squad members determined that the grenades were inert. But a search of the apartment also uncovered a .22-caliber pistol with a silencer, four handguns, four rifles and two sawed-off shotguns.
