PORT HUENEME : Police Seek Clues in Dumping of Blood
- Share via
Port Hueneme police said Thursday that they are stepping up an investigation into the dumping of infectious waste in a community dumpster.
Authorities have several leads on who is responsible for leaving nine containers containing hundreds of blood vials, half-full syringes and cultures near a trash bin in the 2400 block of Bolker Drive, Sgt. Dennis Fitzgerald said.
A neighborhood woman discovered the waste Tuesday morning while she was looking for cans to recycle in the bin near her condominium. Similar containers of waste were again found Wednesday.
The County Department of Environmental Health sent for a private company based in Los Angeles to remove the waste and decontaminate the area, where children often play, Fitzgerald said.
The dumping is a felony violation.
