A 14-year-old Scripps Ranch boy was wounded Saturday when a shotgun held by a 12-year-old accidentally discharged, San Diego police reported.
The two youths were inside a residence at 11315 Tribuna Ave. when one of the boys went into his parents’ bedroom and pulled a 12-gauge shotgun from under the bed.
When he jacked a shell into the chamber, the shotgun discharged, striking Hector Villegas, who was in another bedroom.
The injured youth was taken to Children’s Hospital, where he was reported in good condition with pellet wounds in his side, a hospital spokeswoman said.
