Canoga Park Club Places 8 Gymnasts in Regional Meet

The Junior Elite Training Center in Canoga Park has qualified eight gymnasts for the U. S. Gymnastics Federation regional meet in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday and Sunday.
The eight qualified on the basis of performances at the recent Level 9 and 10 state championships.
Lindsay Orton, 12, of Sunland, was highest placer for JETC, winning the all-around in the Level 10 Junior Division (ages 12 to 14) as well as four individual events.
Judges gave Orton a 71.25 in the all-around; 18.0 in vault; 17.80 on bars; 17.70 on beam; and 17.75 in the floor exercise.
Dean Rasmussen of UC Santa Barbara has been selected as the Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Assn. Player of the Week. Rasmussen, a senior outside hitter from Calabasas High, had 16 kills, a .542 hitting percentage and three blocks in the Gauchos’ sweep of Cal State Northridge last week.
The 20th Ojai Valley Junior Golf Tournament will be held today at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai. Players from 30 high schools will be represented in three divisions.
