TOKYO — The wife of a Japanese aircraft company executive died Thursday when a fire apparently set by arsonists destroyed their home near Tokyo, police said. Investigators said they were working on the possibility that the fire was set by leftist radicals opposed to expansion of Narita airport.
Thursday’s blaze in Kamakura, a Tokyo suburb, razed the home of Atsumasa Kubota, 66, director of Japan Aircraft Manufacturing, killing his wife, Fumie, 53. Kubota suffered burns on the face and neck.
