A motorist died Sunday after crashing his car into the center median of the Santa Paula Freeway and suffering a heart attack, authorities said.
Victor Leith, 42, of Oxnard was traveling east on the freeway just west of Briggs Road when he lost control of his car and hit the median, said California Highway Patrol Officer Frank Packard.
Officers responding to the accident saw Leith run into the westbound lanes and talked him into sitting on the guardrail, Packard said.
Leith became aggressive and had to be restrained by officers, Packard said. He had a heart attack and was taken to Santa Paula Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Packard said.
