Quinn to Attend SCC; Fischer Picks Riverside

Jason Quinn, a 5-foot-10 point guard for Mater Dei High School’s state championship basketball team, signed a letter of intent Tuesday to attend Southern California College.
Debbie Fischer, a record-setting three-point shooter for Edison, has signed to attend UC Riverside on a basketball scholarship.
Quinn, who averaged six points and seven assists for Mater Dei, said he decided to go to SCC because the school reminded him of his high school.
“When I went to the (SCC) gym one day, the resemblance was remarkable,” Quinn said.
Fischer, a 5-foot-6 guard who was a Times’ All-County selection, made 105 three-point shots for Edison this past season, a Southern Section and apparent national single-season high school record. She averaged 21.8 points and 4.6 assists a game and twice made 10 three-point shots in a game, another Southern Section record.
