THE SIDELINES : Steve Pate Leads in Japan Golf

TOGOCHO, Japan — Steve Pate fired a 67 today to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the $625,000 Chunichi Crowns Open.
Pate, who started the second round one shot off the pace, is 7-under-par for the tournament at 133. He had a 33 on the front nine and a 34 on the back nine of the 6,473-yard, par-70 Nagoya Golf Club’s Wago course.
