WASHINGTON — Republican Chairman Lee Atwater, who is recovering from treatment for a brain tumor, has been hospitalized for a second time because of a blood clot in his leg, his spokeswoman said.
Atwater, who was released from George Washington University Medical Center on Saturday after treatment of a blood clot in his left leg, returned on Tuesday for physical therapy, Republican National Committee spokeswoman Leslie Goodman said.
Examination indicated that the problem may not have been cleared up, and doctors decided to readmit him for more medication for the clot, she said. He probably will stay in the hospital about two days, she said.
