Lights, Camera, Restore!: Warner Bros. is spending millions of dollars to restore 26 of its classic movies, adding stereo sound tracks and other modern technical processes. The studio has already salvaged “East of Eden,” “Rebel Without a Cause,” “A Star Is Born,” “Land of the Pharaohs,” “The Silver Chalice,” “Battle Cry” and “King Richard and His Crusaders.” Stereo recording is a laborious process involving recording of four tracks of magnetic stripe on new prints from the original master film.
