CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds put second baseman Mariano Duncan on the 15-day disabled list, extended Eric Davis’ departure from the lineup and acquired infielder Paul Noce from the triple-A Nashville Sounds Monday.
Duncan has a strained abdominal muscle on his right side, suffered while beating out an infield single that drove in the go-ahead run in the Reds’ 13-9 victory Sunday over the Chicago Cubs.
He was batting .382 with four home runs and 15 runs batted in.
Davis was transferred from the 15-day to the 21-day disabled list. The center fielder has been sidelined since April 25 because of a sprained right knee. He can be activated Wednesday.
Noce, 30, was batting .295 with six RBIs in 30 games with Nashville. He played for the Cubs in 1987.
