Chapman’s Tennis Team Eliminated Early

Chapman College, which had reached the finals of the NCAA Division II men’s tennis championships in four of the past five years, lost to Southwest Baptist (Mo.), 6-0, Monday in the first round of the championships in St. Louis.
Chapman (11-10), the third-seeded team, won only two sets against sixth-seeded Southwest Baptist.
Chapman, which won the championship in 1985, ’87 and ‘88, will face Rollins (Fla.) College today in a consolation-round match.
