City staff on Monday submitted to the City Council a proposed $69-million budget for fiscal year 1990-91 that includes an additional 17 employees for the city’s bus line, Police Department, municipal services and other departments.
Police and Fire departments account for nearly a third of the proposed budget. Overall, the proposed budget is 9.5% larger than this year’s, according to a staff report.
As part of the budget process, department heads submitted reports on how they would cut 5% from their budgets, should that be necessary.
The council set May 23 and 26 and June 2, 9, 13 and 20 as dates for its budget study sessions, which are open to the public.
