O’Connor Maintains Top Post

There were no changes in the Top Five, with Sinead O’Connor clinging to the top spot of the Billboard magazine pop album chart. Her album just crossed the 2-million mark. Wilson Phillips’ hit single, “Hold on” (No. 4 on the pop singles chart), is the force propelling the group’s album, “Wilson Phillips,” up the chart. This week, it climbed from No. 28 to No. 17. Another “Hold on”--same title, different song--is headed for the Top 10. This single, by the female singing group En Vogue, is No. 18 on the pop chart.
* “Shup and Dance,” featuring dance mixes of songs from Paula Abdul’s hit debut album, “Forever Your Girl,” is off to an impressive start, debuting at No. 52. Since it’s an album remixing songs her fans already have, it’s not likely to make the Top 10.
