Povich to Quit ‘Affair’: Maury Povich, the craggy-faced anchor of “A Current Affair,” announced that he will leave the syndicated tabloid series when his contract with Fox Broadcasting expires in June, 1991, to co-produce and star in his own daily talk show. “It’s just that over the last week or so, I began to think that it’ll soon be five years here,” said Povich, 51, who has anchored the series since its inception in 1986. “That’s 1,300 shows. I was here when it was a baby.” His talk show, set to premiere in the fall of 1991, will be co-produced and syndicated by Paramount.
