HUNTINGTON BEACH : School Closing Plans Focus of Hearings

Before deciding whether three schools should be closed because of declining enrollment, the Ocean View School District board will hold a study session and public hearings on the issue.
At the board’s meeting Tuesday night, trustees scheduled 7 p.m. hearings June 4 and 6 for teachers, parents and other residents who want to comment on the proposed closure of Golden View, Haven View and Lake View schools. Trustees plan to vote on the issue after the June 6 hearing.
The hearings are tentatively scheduled at the Ocean View High School gymnasium.The board also will devote its regularly scheduled June 5 meeting to a study session on the proposal. The advisory committee that recommended closing the schools will hold a public forum at 7 p.m. tonight at the gymnasium.
