Nolan Ryan, who pitched his sixth career no-hitter Monday against Oakland despite an ailing back, was given a cortisone shot in his lower back during an examination in Los Angeles.
The 43-year-old right-hander was cleared to make his next scheduled start, against the Seattle Mariners at the Kingdome.
