A San Diego woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a car accident on Interstate 8 in El Cajon early Monday morning.
Tamara Celaya, 18, died after the car she was driving struck a pickup, flew 60 feet through the air and landed on its roof, said Karen Evans, a dispatcher for the California Highway Patrol.
Celaya’s two passengers--Johnny Celaya of San Diego and Ismael Orantez, address unknown--were taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital with major injuries, Evans said.
The accident occurred about 3:10 a.m. when Celaya’s car apparently veered in front of the pickup as it was trying to pass her car on I-8, Evans said.
The driver of the pickup, 29-year-old Marc Hohle of San Diego, was not injured, Evans said.
