WORLD IN BRIEF : EAST GERMANY : No Terrorist Aid, Honecker Says

Former East German leader Erich Honecker denied that his government harbored terrorists and blamed the charges on a campaign against the “good reputation” of his regime. The 77-year-old Honecker, in a rare public statement, defended what he called his Communist government’s pursuit of peace and its battle against terrorism. His denial came after authorities arrested nine reputed members of the notorious Red Army Faction.
