SHOOTING U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS : La Crescenta’s Nygord Wins Air-Pistol Event

Don Nygord of La Crescenta, a 1988 Olympian, won the air-pistol competition Friday in the U.S. International Shooting Championships at Chino.
Nygord won with a score of 1,246.3. Eduardo Suarez of Colorado Springs was second with 1,244.8.
Women’s sport pistol champion Bettie Blocksome of Hartselle, Ala., won her event with a score of 1,246, and Denise Morrison of Columbus, Ga., won the women’s trap event with 292 points.
Today’s competition includes the men’s rapid fire pistol event, plus finals in men’s free rifle prone, trap and 50-meter running target mixed runs.
