Nathan Call, a former three-sport star at Capistrano Valley High School, is being treated as an outpatient at UC Irvine Medical Center after being burned in an accident in Bolivia.
Call, who plays basketball for Brigham Young University, was injured June 17 in a campfire explosion. He suffered first- and second-degree burns on his right hand, arm and both legs.
He was treated at a local hospital, approximately 90 miles south of La Paz, and then taken to La Paz the next day. Call was in Bolivia on a Mormon mission.
Call’s parents learned of the accident Tuesday and his father, Henry Call, flew to Bolivia Wednesday. He returned with his son Friday.
