Dispersal Gives Trainer Bud Delp His 2,999th Victory

CHICAGO — Racing as the prohibitive favorite, Dispersal won the $25,000 White Skies Purse at Arlington International Racecourse Thursday to give trainer Grover G. (Bud) Delp the 2,999th winner of his career.
The Maryland-born trainer goes for his 3,000 win today when he starts four horses.
Dispersal, ridden by Jorge Velasquez, took the lead on the stretch turn and went on to win by three lengths in 1:09 for six furlongs.
Astro finished second and Brett’s Lick was third in the five-horse field.
Dispersal paid $2.60 and $2.40. There was no show wagering. Astro returned $6.60 to place.
