Lesle Gallimore has been named women’s soccer coach at San Diego State, Athletic Director Fred Miller announced Thursday.
Gallimore, 26, will take over for Chuck Clegg, who will concentrate on the men’s team.
Gallimore, a former four-time All-American soccer player at Cal, has been an assistant soccer coach at that school for the past four years. Last year, Berkeley was ranked 12th nationally and finished the season 14-3-1.
Still an active club player, Gallimore is participating this week in the U.S. Olympic Festival in Minneapolis as a member of the West women’s team. She also was on West teams in 1987 and 1989, winning gold and silver medals.

San Diego’s Seaside Volleyball Club lost to Torrance, 10-15, 15-9, 15-9, in the final of the U.S. Volleyball Assn. Junior Olympics in Albuquerque.
Ala Mikaele of Lincoln High, Bruce Williams of San Pasqual and Erik Sullivan of San Dieguito, all from Seaside, were named first-team All-American.
Also in Albuquerque, the San Diego Volleyball Club Red team defeated ASICS Munciana (Minneapolis), 15-11, 10-15, 15-9, to finish fourth in the girls’ 16-and-under division.
