AT&T; Revises Layoff Figure: American Telephone & Telegraph Co. said the number of workers in its network services division facing layoffs has been cut to 4,300 because many workers in the unit opted for early retirement. AT&T; had announced in March that it would lay off about 6,000 of its 30,000 network services workers in a streamlining move. The cuts, beginning in September, will affect workers in all states except Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho and Vermont, an AT&T; spokeswoman said.
