WORLD : 7 More Cubans Seeking Asylum

HAVANA — Seven more Cubans seeking to leave the country entered the Czechoslovak Embassy early today, bringing to 14 the number sheltering there, an embassy spokesman said.
The Cuban government said Tuesday night that it would not negotiate the departure of any of its citizens from the mission in Havana’s Nuevo Vedado district.
Czechoslovak Embassy Press Attache Lubomir Hladik said the latest seven arrivals managed to get into the embassy garden despite a police guard around the mission that had been put in place Monday after seven other Cubans gained refuge.
“When one of our staff opened the door this morning, (the new group) came in. They want to leave the country,” he said.
Western diplomats said the Cuban government may have decided on a deliberate policy of not stopping Cubans from entering the embassy.
