Thirty artworks selected last month in a “conservative art contest” by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Long Beach) and three other judges will be shown at Calvary Chapel in Brea on Friday and Saturday. The contest was conceived by KKLA-FM talk show host John Stewart.
The Laguna Art Museum has received a $10,000 grant--twice the amount it got last year--from the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts Foundation. The foundation, established in 1989 with $1.5 million from the Festival of Arts, which annually produces the lucrative Pageant of the Masters, also awarded grants this year to: Ballet Pacifica ($10,000); the Art Institute of Southern California ($20,000); Laguna Beach High School’s art program ($1,500); and the Laguna Beach Chamber Music Society ($10,000).
