Police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of burglary, two weeks after he was shot by a La Jolla man whose home he had entered, police said.
Glenn McCurdy, in good condition with wounds to his left elbow and right foot, is being guarded in his Mercy Hospital room, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. He was arrested Sunday.
McCurdy reportedly entered the home of dentist Joseph Hippensteel in the 8200 block of Caminito Maritimo on July 9. Police said Hippensteel, whose family was on vacation, saw a man in his bedroom, warned him to leave, then chased him through the house. The man started to flee through a window.
Hippensteel, who had grabbed his 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol, fired twice, police said.
Robinson said McCurdy had told police he was taken to Mercy Hospital for wounds received during a drug deal.
