WORLD IN BRIEF : PERU : Soldier, 11 Rebels Killed in Battle

Peruvian army troops killed 11 Maoist guerrillas and one army captain died in a battle in the cocaine-producing Upper Huallaga valley, the army reported. At least 58 people have died in the last week amid renewed fighting.
