Kristine Quance of Northridge was selected for the U. S. swim team that will compete in the Legion of European Nations Cup on Aug. 9-12 in Rome. Quance will travel directly to Italy from Austin, Tex., where she has been competing in the U. S. Swimming Long Course national championships.
Her third-place finishes in the 400-meter individual medley and the 200 breaststroke earned her a berth on the U. S. team. Quance, 15, set personal bests in both races with times of 4 minutes 49.52 seconds and 2:33.52.
Quance also placed eighth in the 200 IM (2:19.79), which was contested Thursday, and ninth in Wednesday’s 100 breaststroke (1:12.13).
The meet in Rome represents her first international competition.
