CYPRESS — A 14-month-old baby was in critical condition Wednesday after her mother found her floating face down in a pool, police said.
Justine Pesicka was taken to Los Alamitos Medical Center, where she was revived by doctors and later transferred by helicopter to Long Beach Memorial Hospital after the 4:30 p.m. incident, Cypress Police Sgt. Sandy Stanton said.
Police said the child and her mother, both of Anaheim, were visiting relatives when the child apparently wandered away.
Justine “went to the back yard and managed to climb a nearby ladder to an above-ground pool,” Stanton said.
The mother told police that the child could have been face down in the water for as long as five minutes.
