A Canyon Country woman died of a heart attack Sunday afternoon after losing control of her car while suffering chest pains, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The 60-year-old woman, whose name was not released pending notification of her relatives, was driving south on Sand Canyon Road in Santa Clarita about 1:45 p.m. when her car ran off the road and crashed into a ditch, said Sgt. Steve Jenkins. The woman told deputies who arrived after the accident that her chest pains made it impossible for her to control her car, Jenkins said.
The woman was rushed by ambulance to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, where she died at 3 p.m. of a heart attack, a hospital spokeswoman said. The victim had a history of heart trouble, the spokeswoman said.
