Kenny Anderson scored 32 points and the United States, which squandered most of a 22-point second-half lead, held off Argentina, 104-100, in the quarterfinal round of the World Basketball Championships at Buenos Aires.
Yugoslavia scored a 105-86 victory over Brazil in another quarterfinal-round game. Drazen Petrovic of the Portland Trail Blazers led Yugoslavia with 27 points. Vlade Divac of the Lakers added 14 points and eight rebounds.
